Easter eggs are an essential activity for the season! The usual dye methods can limit you to one color and too many colors can make for a brown, muddy, not so pretty egg. Here is a cool way to create beautiful eggs without the dye! They are super easy. With a few instructions, my 9 year old, Lila was able to make some pretty fantastic eggs!

I like to use fake eggs so we can keep our beautiful creations and look back at them every year. We picked these up at Walmart for just a few dollars. They don’t work well with the regular dye methods, but for our marbled eggs they were perfect!

You will need a large bowl, one you don’t mind throwing away is probably best. Depending on the number of colors you want to use, you may want more than one bowl. I used these plastic bowls from the dollar store for another party and they were the perfect size. Fill the bowls with luke warm water.

Next you need nail polish. Any color and any product will work. We went through my stash and picked colors we liked and color combinations that would be pretty together. You will also need wooden skewers. We used some leftover chopsticks from a classroom party.

Pour a few drops of nail polish into the bowl. You can use just one color or mix 2 or 3 colors together. Lila found that it was best to pour slowly to allow the color to float on top and keep it from sinking to the bottom.

Use the skewer to swirl the color around. We found this to be optional. We tried some without swirling to give a denser color.

We had some gloves from Lila’s tie dye party and used them to keep from getting polish all over her newly manicured nails. Now just simply dip the egg into the bowl and the color wraps around it like magic!

You will probably be able to do 1 or 2 eggs before needing more polish. When you’re ready to move to new colors scrape the nail color film off the top and drop in new colors. Set them on a clean surface to dry.

Aren’t they gorgeous!? They look super sophisticated! This was the easiest egg decorating process we have ever tried and they are hands down the prettiest eggs we have ever made! We were so excited with the way they turned out!

I hope you enjoy making your marbled eggs as much as we did! Every egg turns out differently, but they are all beautiful! Happy nail polish dipping and Happy Easter!
