If you’re looking for the perfect spring and summer dessert, this is definitely it! The pretty pink frosting is beautiful and along with the fresh fruit topping, it really brings the look and taste of a warm weather sweet treat.
First you need your cake layers. I chose to make 4 layers of dark chocolate cake. Not only is dark chocolate my favorite, it also pairs perfectly with raspberry! You can use your favorite chocolate cake recipe. I used 2 boxes of dark chocolate fudge cake.
Now that you have your chocolate layers, it’s time for the raspberry buttercream! I found this yummy recipe and it was super easy to whip up! What I love is that a few tablespoons of raspberry jam provides all the pink color you need. No pink food coloring needed. It’s such a pretty shade of pink too! Just pipe frosting on each cake layer and stack them up.
I love the look of a naked cake! It really shows off the layers of your cake and gives the dessert a simple look. The contrast of the rich, dark cake layers and the delicate pink frosting makes for a beautiful dessert.
Now all you need are fresh raspberries to bring the entire dessert together! The look is fresh and full of color. With a quick sprinkle of powdered sugar, you have a beautiful cake topper that tastes yummy!
This cake is just stunning! The contrasting layers of sweet, pink raspberry buttercream and rich, dark chocolate are not only beautiful, but they taste amazing too! This cake is perfect for any spring and summer occasion. Your guests will love it!
