When my kids were in preschool, they always had a special Mother’s Day celebration for us called Muffins with Mom and I loved those special mornings with my kids! I decided to do my own take on this for our moms. Things are a little crazy right now with the pandemic and social distancing and I wanted to come up with a simple and sweet way to celebrate. This setup is quick and could be done outside in good weather, which can help to keep family physically distanced and yet still together!
I started with the idea of coffee. I thought a morning celebration would be a nice way to begin Mother’s Day! I love the natural wood and metal elements of this tiered tray. The white porcelain of the coffee mugs and the pinks of the napkins and dessert plates look nice against the wood. The tray makes a perfect coffee serving station!
I used a pretty footed bowl to hold the coffee pods. This makes it very easy for everyone to pick up and make their own coffee.
I love love these cream and sugar bowls! Simple white porcelain are beautiful and perfect for this celebration. They keep coffee service easy and allow everyone to have it just as they like it!
Next up are the sweets! Cinnamon rolls are always a favorite and I love the mini size to make them easy to grab and eat. To keep everything super easy, I picked up my breakfast sweets at our local grocery store, but you can of course make your own treats.
Muffins with Mom definitely requires muffins! I went with lemon streusel muffins, really big ones! You can also do mini muffins and in your favorite flavor. I love the nice brown of the muffins and the wood of the cake stand. It has a warm, farmhouse feel to it.
I also chose a classic vanilla pound cake for our Mother’s Day coffee bar. I love pound cake and it’s perfect any time of the day! My grandmother used to make one and pack it for our beach trips. It’s the perfect dessert, breakfast, snack item!
Flowers make everything pretty! To keep things simple and reflective of spring, I chose what we have blooming in our yard. Azaleas are bright and bold. The pink is beautiful and really says Mother’s Day celebration! I used a simple chalkboard stand to mark the occasion and let our mom’s know this party is all about them. The wooden sign adds to the simple, farmhouse look.
I love the simplicity of this small, pretty gathering. I love the vintage farmhouse look of the wood and the porcelain together. You can set up this self-service table quickly and then enjoy a relaxing morning with the moms in your life. Happy Mother’s Day!
