The simplicity of these candle holders is what makes them so pretty! In just a few steps, you’ll have a beautiful addition to your Valentine’s Day decorations. They are so easy, your kids can do this project almost completely on their own, so much so that I will be doing this with a classroom of 4th graders for my daughters Valentine’s classroom party.
The first thing you need are votive holders. You can find them at your local craft store. Because I needed enough for a classroom of kiddos, I ordered a pack of 24 from Amazon. This simple design works well for this project.
Next, you need hearts. I purchased double-sided adhesive sheets and a heart craft punch to make them. Simply use the heart craft punch to make your heart shapes. Peel one side off of your heart and place on your votive holder. I chose to add a ring of hearts. You can also use different size hearts and arrange them in a variety of ways. This project is great for every holiday! You can do shamrocks, Christmas trees, jack-o-lanterns, bunnies. There are tons of craft punch options.
Here’s where is gets glitzy and fun! Glitter makes every project awesome! Just choose your color. I love this pink! It’s almost like a rose gold and definitely reminds me of Valentine’s Day. It’s also a larger glitter which adds more texture to the project. Ultra fine glitters will also work and will provide a smoother look. Red and purple or a mixture of these colors would be pretty for this holiday. There are so many glitter colors, you can make a votive holder for every holiday and any design.
Now it’s time to make our votive holder. Pour some glitter onto a plate. It doesn’t take much and you can always add more as needed. Peel off the outer layer of your heart to expose the sticky surface and then just roll the votive holder through the glitter until all of the heart is covered with the glitter. Shake off any excess and drop in the candle of your choice. I purchased a 24 pack of battery operated tea lights on Amazon for the class party.
With just a few supplies and a little bit of time, you can create a pretty votive candle holder! A group of candle holders in different sizes, would make a beautiful statement. Place them in jewelry pouches and give them as gifts. Happy Valentine’s Day!
